100% Distro


What's different from purchasing a Linux OS and Downloading a live CD ?

You mean the difference between downloading & burning a Linux CD and buying a Linux CD?

There isn't any difference. The only reason to buy one is if you can't download or burn it yourself (i.ie have slow internet and/or no CD/DVD burner). If you buy it, you are only paying for the physical plastic disc, not the OS on it, unlike proprietary software.

There are some distros like RHEL that you have to pay for (you pay for the OS, not just the disc), but they are still Free/Open Source.
