You Tube
 
I have Ubuntu 6.06 and I am trying to watch Viedos in You tube, I can see the movie but no sound. BUt if I put in a Cd or play internet raido I get sound.

Any thoughts ?

Flash sucks. For me it is touch and go, sometimes sounds works and sometimes it doesn't but if I stop all apps that could possibly be using my sound and restart Firefox it'll always work. Try that first, another option is to again, stop any app that could be using sound, open a terminal and run Firefox like this:

This worked for me.

Edit the .asoundrc file in your home directory so it contains this:

pcm.!default {
        type plug
        slave.pcm "dmix"
}

Then either start Firefox with 'aoss firefox' or create a file in your home directory called .gnomerc and put this in it:

export FIREFOX_DSP=aoss
You'll have to at least log out and back in to test.
