Well, it's very easy!
You can mount with the command mount.
CD's are the easiest- mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom
Ipod is little bit diffrent: you will need also to define rules and fs:
mount /dev/sda -t vfat /mnt/whatever
note- in most cases it may not be sda, but sda1, sda2 etc... so try that.
