XFce4 4.6.2 only can edit the menus manually?

After I upgraded to Debian 6, it seems there is no way to edit the menus. Alacarte seems to change it in some ways, but mostly doesn't work. Editing by hand is so difficult and seems clumsy. Isn't there a better way?

You'll have to wait for Xfce 4.8 to use Alacarte.
