Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11.  Server aborting

Judging from the backtrace I assumed it was a problem with the x server itself or glibc. however after reinstalling glibc then the x server again same thing happens.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

hi there,

I think you would have done this but have you checked the /etc/X11/xorg.conf (?)

There may be some issues with the video drivers or the monitor resolution (or maybe the horizontal/vertical refresh rates).

This happens with me as I have an old cheap 14" monitor :)
