X configure blacks out - - xinit/startx freezes

After installing CRUX linux, I got all the basics I needed to start up my desktop and what not, and unfortunately did a startx and landed with a frozen screen. I proceeded to go to X -configure, and sadly had no help there, having it just turn to a black screen. However, everything looked fine when I managed to return through alt-ctrl-F* to get out. I got the following...

X: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nsc_drv.so: undefined symbol: xf86GetPcIVideoInfo

Do I need to recompile my kernel to make this work? No idea what to do to fix this.

The standard kernel allows VGA or VESA video cards, which most can run as except ones from before the early 90s, so you should not need to compile a kernel (unless your video card is better than VESA and you want to improve the kernel for it, but compiling one does nothing to X.)

It would be good to type parts of the error into a search engine, and also to say your video card.

Besides 'X -configure,' try xorgsetup, xorgconfig, and combinations of the configuration methods; compare each /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and save any that partly work. Xorgconfig may also work, but for the majority (51%) of X errors that no one can solve except maybe its programmers (who might have to fix it,) it seems easier to reinstall it or the OS. Hopefully you will not have to for this error.
