Where should I start

Hello Everybody,

I am a new user of Linux OS. Recently I have installed RedHat 9.0 in my pc but I am not sure where should I start? Should I start learning first commands to operate it successfully. Can someone help me on this?

Regards,

Sakhan

This might be a good place to go to start learning some commands, a google search will provide other sources of information.

The way I learned Linux was to look around for interesting Linux software, install them, and just mess around with it.

Good luck

Start using the applications you need
RedHat 9 is old so it may not be as "desktop-oriented" as current releases of main distributions (Fedora ??, Mandriva 2007.1, Debian 4, Ubuntu ??).

My advice is to just use graphical tools until you:
- feel the need to know more (want to learn), or
- have the need to know more (due to a problem).

Those who know me know how much I rely on the command line, how i like it. So be sure I don't say this because GUI IsGood(tm) and shell IsBad(tm) Quite the contrary in fact in many cases.
It's just that a computer is first of all a tool to help you make things, not an object of interest in itself (shouldn't be at least, but I'm at a bad position myself to say so...)

Yves.
