Start using the applications you need
RedHat 9 is old so it may not be as "desktop-oriented" as current releases of main distributions (Fedora ??, Mandriva 2007.1, Debian 4, Ubuntu ??).
My advice is to just use graphical tools until you:
- feel the need to know more (want to learn), or
- have the need to know more (due to a problem).
Those who know me know how much I rely on the command line, how i like it. So be sure I don't say this because GUI IsGood(tm) and shell IsBad(tm)
Quite the contrary in fact in many cases.
It's just that a computer is first of all a tool to help you make things, not an object of interest in itself (shouldn't be at least, but I'm at a bad position myself to say so...)
