Where are the start up scripts for FC4? This affects mplayer
I'm running Fedora Core 4 kernal 1.6.11-1 on a bespoke computer. 512 meg of RAM, 2.4 gig Pentium 4 chip.
I recently downloaded and installed mplayer (didn't add a skin during install, grrr), and it plays small (100 meg?) .avi files just fine, including sound. Recently, using Windows Movie Maker, I combined several of the small .avi files in one large (12 gig) .avi file. When I try to play that large .avi file, O get the following error:
"Linux RTC init error in ioctl (rtc_irqp_set 1024): Permission denied
Try adding "echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq" to your system startup scripts."
Totem plays the large .avi file, but with garbled sound.
Anyway, my questions are these:
1. /etc.rc.d/init.d -- is that the right place to look for my startup scripts? If it is, then:
2. Into what should I add the echo 1024 > ________________ line? I went to /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq and the file consisted of the number 64 -- which I don't want to change since I have no idea what I'm doing.
mplayerhq.hu didn't have an answer for me that I could see.
