What the hell is ~/.ICEauthority, and why can't I replace it with a link to /dev/nul

Well this .ICEauthority file causes some trouble for calibre, usually zeroing it and then doing conversions usually works just fine, but apparently some part of xfce is using it for something.
How do I get rid of it, I kinda doubt that making it immutable will work, since I tried simlinking it to /dev/null, but it was recreated.
I am guessing it is some useless login/logout binary log or config that I really don't care about since xfce works ok without it during regular operations.

As far as I can tell, .ICEauthority is used by the XFCE session manager during login. I can't figure out why that should affect calibre in any way though. (but I do find obscure and uninformative references to a 'bug' in calibre pertaining to this)

Exactly what kind of trouble do you have when using calibre?

Thnks, this ICE garbage sounds a lot like D-Bus and other stupid gimmicks that are used by various GUI garbage for privilege escalation and non-standard IPC, just more useless stupid middleware.
Since the file is owned by the same user I could always just configure the launcher to empty the file before launching calibre via adding >~/.ICEauthority; prior to the calibre launch command I suppose.
Another strange thing is that according to yum nothing actually should require libICE, other than some devel lib that is itself not required by anything:
*@localhost ~]$ rpm -q --whatrequires libICE
libICE-devel-1.0.8-5.fc19.x86_64

I will just use the workaround and then try and find a way to disable any functionality that xfce actually needs from this thing damn it, I see no real benefit to using this ICE crap, since standard tools like sudo and su give me the ability to modify config options and manage devices and connectivity well enough without some fancy authentication mechanisms that are probably only used fro stupid clicky tools.
