What does orange square containing exclamation point in a desktop icon mean?

I made some changes to the .desktop file for an application and now the icon on the desktop contains an exclamation point ("!") in an orange square.

When I click on the icon, I get a pop-up that says:

Quote:

Warning - Plasma
This will start the program:
program name
If you do not trust this program, click Cancel
How can I eliminate this prompt?

Can someone point me to the documentation for such icon tags?

I'm using Leap 15.2 with KDE Plasma 5.

Thanks.

The exclaimation point is a symbol for a warning.

(Maybe delete it, then create a new desktop icon for the program.)

I tried re-creating the .desktop file and the "!" disappeared.

I noticed that (somehow) the "executable" bit was set in the new .desktop file. After more research, I discovered that the
executable bit is the key, though it is somewhat obscure. If it is NOT set, then the pop-up that I described is displayed.

On some Linux versions, the pop-up includes a button which will set the executable bit so that the pop-up is not displayed again.

In any case, my problem is resolved. Thanks for the response.
