What can I use to display a GUI message at a specific time every day?

Hi

The scenario is we've set-up a Fedora box for the kids to use and it's frequently being left on overnight. I am thinking of putting a "shutdown 19:35" in the startup for their logins but would like to present a message on their screen about 15mins prior telling them it's time to save their work or game and brush their teeth.

The wall message from the shutdown isn't shown on the GUI.

Any advice for what will do this nicely, and even come up over the top of full-screen games?
