Web Browsers not recognizing flash plugin

Hello All,

Can give me any reason why my FC5 web browsers (opera 9.01 and firefox 1.5.0.6) don't seem to recognize the lastest flash plugins? I double checked to make sure that the plugins were in the right folder but it just doesn't seem to be able to play any flash content on a web page.

I have tried doing the following:
*firefox plugins download system (root and local account)
*manual install (local account)
*adobe download and install script (root and local account)
*Changing the plugins directory or the entire browsers data directory to global read/write.

None of these have worked.

Any idea on how I can fix this?

Does Flash show up in your browsers' plugin lists ("about:plugins" in Firefox and "opera:plugins" in Opera)?

EDIT: sorted out the "smilies" problem (I think). Everything should now display correctly.

I just checked and I was not able to find the about plugins for firefox or opera. I looked at the about opera from the help menu but it only showed me the plugins path and not what plugins are actually installed.

Type "about:plugins" into the address bar of Firefox, and "opera:plugins" into the address bar of Opera. This will show a list of all properly installed plugins.

For the plugins to work try following

http://www.stanton-finley.net/fedora...tes.html#Flash

"System" > "Administration" > "Security Level and Firewall". Enter your root password and click "ok". On the "SELinux" tab click on "Modify SELinux Policy", click on "Compatibility" to open it and tick the check box next to "Allow the use of shared libraries with Text Relocation". Click "ok". Reboot your machine to implement the new SELinux policy.

install plugins thereafter

Opera shows that the following installed:
/usr/lib/opera/plugins/libnpp.so
application/x-opera-nsplugin

Firefox says no plug-ins are installed

After following the advice of Sandeepnatu, that is exactly what I needed to do to get those plugins working. I already had the flash plugins installed so once I enabled the compatibility and rebooted, I was able to start seeing the flash media on web pages.

Thanks for all the help.
