Using KDE styles in GTK apps?
I changed the style of KDE, and it looks nice, however, I notice that in some GTK apps (such as Adept), it uses the default Kubuntu style. Is there any way to force GTK apps to use my KDE style?

Install the package gtk-qt-engine. It will make gtk apps use qt rendering. It's not perfect, but it pretty much does the job.

Hmm... I already have that installed. Is there something I need to do to use it?
EDIT: I set the option in the control center, but that doesn't do it for some apps I guess. Is there anything else I can do? |
I noticed that it is only apps that I have to run as root that do this. Would there be a solution to this?

The root user doesn't generally use the current user's environment settings by default. I believe there are ways to export the environment, but I'm not sure how to do that, especially if you're using sudo (as most 'buntu users do). You really shouldn't be running anything as root anyway except for configuration dialogs and other system maintenance stuff...things that you shouldn't have to touch frequently enough for looks to matter.
There are some synchronized themes that have both qt and gtk versions. You might try using one of them. Here's a page that discusses some of this: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Same_lo...and_GTK_1_apps |
OK, thanks for the info.
