I am running Fedora 16 64bit. I have a 80 GB hard drive. The /home
partition is showing 38GB. I have only 1 user set up on the system.
I am getting out of space messages in the "User" folder. From what I can determine the "User" folder is using 25 GB.

I am not sure if the single user can use all the available space of 38GB, ie expands automatically or there is an allocation of, in this case only 25 GB for the single user. If there is an allocation of only 25 GB for the "user" how do I expand the 25 GB size to make use of the remaining 13 GB or there abouts.

WShat other options are there to make more space availble

Hi,

first I assume that you mean /usr when you refer to the "User folder". If you are using LVM then you should be able quite easily shrink /home and expand /usr. If not you can probably achieve this using "Parted Magic" from a live CD or USB stick.

Thanks for the reply I see the confusion.
The "user" folder being refered to is in the /home partition. Like for example
"/home/Joe" In this case "Joe" being the "user" It is the Joe folder that is reporting out of space when I try to add anything else.

ok I understand now. What exactly are these "of space messages"? Something in /var/log/messages or some sort of gui perhaps?
