Welcome to LQ

Perhaps a hardware failure?
Try to boot from a live CD, like puppy and see if it works.

Kind regards

In addition what type of USB device other then the keyboard and mouse are you trying to get working?
Is the output of the lsusb command posted with the other USB devices plugged in?

A quick google do find problems with ehci (USB 2.0) but mostly with older versions.
Is there anything in the output of the dmesg command on a new device being plugged in?

Is this computer dual boot? If so do the ports work under windows or other linux distributions?
If not dual boot I might try a live CD of another distribution to see if the ports work.
