upgrade from Fedora 9 KDE 3.5 to Fedora 10 KDE 4... where's my desktop?

It logs in ok, but with KDE, there's no start menu, no bars, no desktop icons. How do I restore all of this?

this is why a fresh install is recommended HOW did you upgrade
yum upgrade
-- or --
yum install preupgrade

if renamming your $HOME/.kde folder to .kde-old and rebooting dose not fix it a fresh install of 10 might be the easest way of fixing this

also if you run this
rpm -qa | grep fc9
and get more than 1 to 3 fedora 9 packages listed then the upgrade did not go correctly , reinstall.
