Question Unity, Gnome 3 give blank desktop in Ubuntu 11.10

Dear Linux Gurus,
I used to be a happy Ubuntu 11.04 user until yesterday. Unfortunately I upgraded to 11.10 yesterday.

Now When I log in using Unity. Nothing shows up on desktop except the wallpaper and mouse pointer. Neither ctrl+alt+t nor alt + f2 works.

only thing that works is ctrl+alt+del which logs out the system.

Unity2D works though. But it's very slow and acts awkward.

I tried installing Gnome.

Gnome classic works but Gnome 3 gives the blank desktop as Unity.

What's going on? Any Ideas? How do i fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Please show us your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file, and the output of 'glxinfo'.
