Unable to change permission of the files on mounted partitions in ubuntu 12.04
I have just installed ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I mounted my SOFTS(/dev/sda6) partiotion by selecting it on nautilis. After that i openend the terminal and tried to change the permissions of a file. The command executed but the file permissions remained unchanged. I tried changing the permissions by using root permissions, it didn't work. :(
Does /dev/sda6 contain a valid unix/linux file-system? A linux/unix file-system works differently then say a windows file-system, ordinary linux tools cannot be used to change permissions on none-unix/linux files-ystems.
