Ubuntu Problem with Loading webpages correctly
 

Missing pieces on web pages. Ex: the place where you type or reply inside a text bar while in a chat room.

When inside web pages not all aspects are showing up. The reply text bar is missing inside the web pages for example. Why are pieces missing?

I use Mozilla Firefox web browser.

In addition why do the fonts change every time they are different in the web pages ex: myspace.com changes font size each time I login.

Which version of the Firefox browser? And, are you using the Ubuntu "tweaked" version, or the official Firefox one? (I.e., how did you install the Firefox browser?)

What extensions to you have installed? (For example, the NoScript extension may disable Java Script used to control your Firefox text input.)

Have you tried any other browser? (For example, Google-chrome, Opera, etc.)

Is there a way to see why the bar doesnt appear.. here's something interesting..
when I do private browsing the chat bar appears when I do not use private browsing it is gone.. even more interesting it worked prior to adding ubuntu's updates. How can I find out the most recent updates? Def was to *lib*.

Should I provid you with the link where this isn't working?

And which add-ons (extensions) do you have installed? (Look under Tools -> Add-ons for the list.)

The interaction with the "Private Browsing" option suggests that your default cookie setting has the "Accept cookies from sites" option unset. (Look under the "Privacy" tab in the "Preferences" settings. The key combination <alt>-O should display your preferences settings.)

You might consider installing the 3.6 version of FF from the Mozilla site. The Ubuntu "tweaks" are, in my personal opinion, counter productive. (Or, if you want to visit the cutting edge, Firefox 4 beta is available for testing.)

As to your CSS problem, I think that's unrelated to your display problem, but you should send an e-mail to the managers of the sites delivering invalid style sheets so they can correct the problem.

Under Privacy that option doesnt exist. I'm gonna reload the o/s things are just getting worse. Even when I add the plugin it requests things work less and less meaning pages aren't loading.

That's where it is in the 3.6.7 version I'm running. IIRC, the older versions of FF had the "cookies" stuff under the "General" tab. Look around in the preferences settings till you find the cookies settings.

You still haven't posted the list of your installed extensions. Your first post suggests that you may have installed the Sun Java stuff, which may conflict with the IcedTea Java extensions used, by default, by Linux systems.

How to give u the output of extensions? It's like a drop down menu pointing to other drop down menus.. software is ubuntu's latest 9 version...

Checked everywhere.. cookies doesnt even exist in the Mozilla Firefox. When I tried to deinstall the older version of Firefox to install 10 Firefox would deinstall even though I tried deinstalling it.

It's weird I dont think it's using the plugins and it doesnt give me the option to select them to use them. Things like utube wont work. Cant view any vids.. was able to do so previously.

O.K., let me summarize what I think you've said:

1. You're running Firefox 3.6.8.
2. You have the IcedTea plugin installed.
3. You videos are still not working for you.
4. Input text boxes still have problems.
5. Flash (YouTube) does not work.

It sounds to me like you may not have all the video plugins you need installed.

Do you know if your computer uses a 64-bit processor or not and, if it does, if you're running the 64-bit version of Ubuntu or the 32 bit version. (The 32 bit Ubuntu will work on a 64 bit processor.) I ask because some plugins are only available for 32-bit applications.
