Ubuntu Audio/Video


hi ..

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 .. I do not have internet in my home..could you tell me how to watch and listen music in ubuntu...

which packages should I want to download for ubuntu and where would I find it ..!!! how should I install it ..


I am new to the LINUX world ...so plz help ...

you will need ffmpeg, gstreamer, gstreamer-bad, gstreamer-ugly plugins

If you install VLC or MPlayer, both these programs can play almost anything you throw at them. However, you need an internet connection in order to make the installation. The command to install is:

sudo apt-get install vlc

If you want a Linux just to play multimedia, I suggest you use Linux Mint and not Ubuntu. Mint is based on Ubuntu but it is pre-loaded with multimedia features and you won't have to install anything.

thank you ...!! I got few useful information from your side ..!!!

But without internet it is not possible to use multimedia tools ..!!!
