Hi, I have a Ubuntu 8.04 installed with a ATI 9250 graphics card. After reading some posts I managed to activate the TV-Out using the following commands:

xrandr --addmode S-video 800x600
xrandr --output S-video --mode 800x600
xrandr --output S-video --set tv_standard pal
xrandr --output S-video --off
xrandr --output S-video --mode 800x600
xvattr -a XV_CRTC -v 1

This is working perfectly with my 42" plasma, the only problem I have now is that it doesn't work if I start the PC without the VGA monitor connected (only works well with the TV Out if the VGA monitor is also connected to the VGA connector). Can anyone suggest me some tip to solve this limitation? i want to use this PC with no VGA monitor, only a TV connected to it.
