In Windows Vista, I can hide the Ubuntu Linux partition by doing the following:
Start -> Run -> diskmgmt.msc
Select the partition (ie: D: drive)
Right-click it
Select Change Drive Letter and Paths...
Click Remove
Drive D: becomes invisible to Windows Explorer from then on in, and remains persistent after rebooting.
I'm trying to achieve the same thing in Ubuntu 7.04, by hiding the Windows Vista partition from Ubuntu.
I've managed to hide the /media/disk folder, but in Places -> Computer the 77.8 GB volume housing the Windows files is still visible. If double-clicked, (and after entering my password,) the files become browsable. (I'm presuming this procedure re-mounts the volume?)
Does the Ubuntu equivalent of Windows Explorer also show unmounted partitions?
There's no sign of the partition in the /etc/fstab file.

It's that /dev/sda2 partition that I'm trying to hide from Ubuntu.
Is there a way to make that 77.8 GB volume disappear?
I'm pretty much a complete newbie when it comes to Linux, (I only managed to dual-boot Ubuntu and Vista for the first time the other day, after several frustrated attempts.
Any help you might be able to offer would be very much appreciated. Cheers!
