Truly transparent terminal emulator?

Hello all,
for a long time I've used aterm's pseudo transparency and been happy with it; however, i now have an animated background (glmatrix from xscreensaver btw)
/usr/lib/misc/xscreensaver/glmatrix -root -speed 10 -density 40
but the pseudo transparency doesn't catch the glmatrix at all, and even if it did i get the feeling that it wouldn't be animated in the background of the terminal. I'm really looking for something comperable to iTerm on Mac.

Any suggestions? thanks!

I'm afraid you can get true transparency with composite window managers only. Try compiz-fusion or somethnig like that...

I haven't tried this, so I don't know how effective it is:

Uncle Theo: I've tried beryl and gotten it working, but it's too..... cumbersome for me, i prefer fluxbox (i'm simple like that), so I've got compositing working (rather nicely) is that what you were talking about, or do i literally have to be running compiz-fusion/similar

Nexus: Eterm complains about not finding any background, it wanted me to run esetroot which would've just made the termial look down to the background i set with esetroot

thanks, all

terminal, transparent
