touch pad problem


hi all,
I installed debian lenny and windows xp my laptop,when i installed first time the touch pad s not working properly but i edited the xorg file as the touchpad protocol as "alps" it worked.

some days before i made some upgrades after my touchpad is not working and left click also not working.in desktop.inside the file the touch pad is working normally some seconds later.

i checked the buttons whether hardware failure but it works fine in windows.only problem with debian desktop.

i am using gnome desktop.

please help me solve this problem

Hello rinos.

Do you know who your touchpad is made by? It may be Synaptics, but it may be different too...

i solved that problem by editing the etc/X11/xorg.conf

device of touchpad as protocol 'alps'

its working.

Glad you got it working ...Everytime I had a touchpad I had to install a driver to make it work properly...
