Temp file, where o where are you!?
 

Right here we go. I've been messing about with my nfs all evening. I figured i might as well install amule and see if i could make amule use the temp and incoming dir's that emule uses on the the nt file system. Apparently i can, if i set the read/write permissions correctly. However, even if i set these permissions it still won't work. But this isn't the problem i'm trying to get solved (though info is welcome). The problem is that amule won't start due to this error. Removing amule, even rebooting, and reinstalling amule doesn't solve this. Now i could leave it and go with xmule but that would be to easy. Somewhere on my wonderfull kubuntu must be a temp file that holds the last settings i gave to amule. Obviously i want them to be gone :D !! So, as you might guess, the question is: where do i look for this temp file?

The file with amule settings is in your ~/.aMule directory.

No, i'm afraid not. That was the first place to look, plus the amule dir is no longer there since i de-installed it.

The next phase of the search is the slow, tedious step.

From a console:
locate amule
locate Amule
locate aMule

and any other variations you can think of. Then examine the files revealed by such a search. Remove the offending file.

Cheers, problem solved. amule.conf was what i was looking for. Just couldn't seem to find it. Pardon my noobidity :p

Now for that other issue; is it possible for amule to store it's data in the emule dir's under windows? I wanna see if it's possible for amule to fetch the the data in F:\temp.

So long as the file is a text file, it shouldn't matter if it's windows or Linux, text is text. It's when you run into windows formats that problems would occur.

Both aMule and eMule use .part, .part.met and .part.met.bak file types to store temp data. I've checked and they are indeed compatible. It's when i set my windows temp dir up in aMule that i get the following message:

Permissions on the aMule incoming directory too strict!
aMule cannot proceed. To fix this, you must set read/write/exec
permissions for the folder '/home/kreliz/Desktop/F:/Incoming'

Well no explanation needed there, but how do i go about doing so? Will i be using 'chmod' since i'm use a samba server to connect to windows? Again, pardon my noobidity, i'm still on a huge learning curve. But it's exactly these permissions i want to familiarize myself with.
