Suse 9 - how to get desktop?

I have an install of Suse 9 - but with no X windows ...or display manager or whatever its called - it just boots up into command line.

But I want to get a windowing environment. I ran yast and installed everything I could find relating to gnome and x windows packages. However eachtime I reboot, it still comes up command line instead of the window environment.

What am I missing?
