Starting gnome-terminal in /home directory instead of /

Hello.

I am running CentOS 6.2 with gnome2.

I've created a keyboard shortcut (through System->Preferences->Keyboard shortcuts) to open an instance of gnome-terminal.

This works fine, and gnome-terminal starts just fine.

However, it starts up in / where as I want it to start in my /home directory, which it does when I start the terminal from the shortcut in Applications->System tools->Terminal.

How can I do this? I've examined the contents of the .desktop file for the shortcut, and it just starts gnome-terminal without any arguments. When I start gnome-terminal without any arguments with the keyboard shortcut, it starts in /.

You can edit ~/.bashrc to add
Code:
cd ~/
at the end. This will then open all new terminals in your home directory.

Or to just to it for those terminals launched from your shortcut, change the shortcut to:

Code:
gnome-terminal --working-directory ~/

Thank you.

the --working-directory was precisely what I was looking for. As you mentioned, this was valid only for terminal started through the keyboard shortcut, as all terminals launched from elsewhere would indeed start in ~.
