Exclamation SK98LIN and USB SDA issues with Redhat 3.4.3

I have a Redhat 3.4.3 boot cd that has a "unique" application set. For the boot sequence to complete correctly it needs to be able to recognize the ethernet adapter, and obtain a dhcp lease. Unfortunately this distribution was not compiled with the proper drivers for a couple notebooks i have been using (Tecra S1, S2); more specifically the Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller. I've checked around the web, and have found the SK98LIN module is used for this nic. Does anyone know of any precompiled drivers for this card, or if it is possible to precompile drivers for this distribution of linux? If so, how?

If you need more information, feel free to email me at: goodsh@gmail.com

Thanks,

Benny Blanco from the Bronx

Just happened to be helping someone on the same subject. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...08#post2379408

Read the last post to see where we are at. Seems the file is a bit outdated for the latest kernels. Only way is to recompile. Easy to do. Follow this post on recompile on Redhat Clone distro. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...36#post1401136

Unfortunately that is impossible. The boot cd does not have a compiler. Now unless I can somehow install a compiler...

I see what you are doing now. Missed the part of boot cd. Not sure depending on the kernel version one can install a copy of the distro that uses the exact same kernel version if it exist and then do a kernel compile. Next mount the ISO and modify it adding the module and changing any other files like /etc/modprobe.conf or maybe /etc/rc.local and add line like modprobe sk98lin. Then bring up the nic. A long process but the only way I know how to do it.
