Hello all,

I have rhel5 desktop client, and I want to show my desktop on TV. I have all the required wires for TV out. (I do it normally on windows)

Any ideas.

Regards

What video card are you using? Typically you have to specify an alternate output (SVIDEO, COMPOSITE...). How are you going to drive it; you mention you have all the "required wires", and that describes very little other than it probably isn't VGA

He is probably talking about svideo and the audio out stuff. Some video cards have issues being able to display to tv for some reason not all of them just some. An example is the tv out for Intel accelerated in laptops. There are various tutorials and help on the internet you should try Google or give us a bit more information like what video card you are using.

if you are running an nvidia card like i am, you may need to use the nvidia binary drivers, since the free nv drivers seem to have problems with tv out over svideo.

also if you have anything which runs linux whcih connects to your TV (ps3 perhaps with yellowdog?) and a nice network going you can run your desktop on the tv through SSH, though i have had problems running video across such a setup...though i imagine there are many here who would know better than i.

i think ATI also has binaries for linux...which i imagine you would need if you were running an ATI chip.
