screen resolution issue

hello, i am trying to add 1360x768 to xorg.conf, however my version doesn't have /etc/x11/xorg.conf. (fedora 10)

so i try to "cp /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/x11/xorg.conf" and i get the error that cp: cannot create file, '/etc/x11/xorg.conf' no such file or directory.

so i try to sudo nano /etc/x11/xorg.conf and same thing i can't create it cause doesn't exist. this is very frustrating, why can't i create a new file logged in as root??

is this a permission issue, is there a higher log on then root?? lol

any help would be appreciated...i don't wanna have to go back to using two monitors heh.

I think you have a mild typo. '/etc/x11/xorg.conf' should be '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' (upper case X in X11)...

what he said.

provided you fix the capitalization issue, if the xorg.conf file itself doesn't exist you likely need to install system-config-display which i don't think installs by default on Fedora 10. after installing, then run system-config-display and save the changes. this will create the xorg.conf file, which you can then modify to suit your needs.

cheers.
