Show us what plugins are listed in about:plugins

You might have firefox plugins installed via
~/.firefox/plugins/
~/.mozilla/firefox/plugins/
I have never used realplayer in Linux, so I am not sure how the plugins work for it. I have always had great success with mplayer.

Firefox 3.0 also lets you manage plugins within Firefox.

You should also tell everyone what Distro you are running.

Are you running Firefox 1.5 for web design/testing purposes?
