Why is it so hard to rip and burn DVD's in Linux as compared to Windows? Nothing works. I have Kubuntu 7.04 and nothing in it works. I have tried DVD Decrypter and DVD shrink in Wine and I just keep getting all types of errors. Any help out there would be appreciated.

try dvdbackup to get the files to your hard drive, and dvdshrink under wine to shrink them. There is other software too. Sorry it's harder under linux.

I don't know, can't say I've noticed any difference.

Really, I'm surprised about that. Ubuntu/Kubuntu is generally considered to be one of the easiest and best distros to work out of the box!

Have you considered trying Linux alternatives?

1. Try different alternatives before declaring 'nothing works'
2. Post the output of your error messages (we need some kind of clue as to what the problem may be).
3. Finally, Linux is not Winblow$, your comparisons are meaningless.
This is not a flame, just read your post as if someone else posted it and tell me how much info it gives.
Well Nexus I am a Linux Noob so what are the Linux alternatives?
