RHEL AS4 hangs on (enabling swap space) after installing openmpi

Hi all,
I am running Red Hat enterprise Linux AS 4 (32 bit) in my machine. the systen functions well. I've installed openmpi and then rebooted the system. I find that the system takes a long time to boot and it hangs about 20 minutes at Enabling swap space.
I have 4GB RAM and allocated 8GB to swap. HDD is 150GB. Processor Core 2 quad.Kindly help me to clear this out.
