Removing an username from GDM

Hi,
How do I remove an username from the list of usernames appearing in GDM?
Thanks.

If it were that simple. I can't delete the user. It isn't an account for a normal user. It was created so that an application could run only in that account.

I was just thinking about this and wonder if I spoke to quickly.

There should be a setting in the gdm configuration to not show the list of user names. I'll test it and get back to you later this evening.

Another option would be to turn off the gdm, have users enter their user name, and then "startx."

In the GDM configuration dialog, unchecking the item "Show list of users . . ." causes GDM to display a field for entering the login name. Doing that and clicking "Login" displays the password dialog.

I tested this on my Ubuntu system. I don't use the GDM on my CentOS box.

The setting is in the Gnome Control Center and may also be under "Preferences-->Login Screen" or something like that on the Gnome menu.

The change must be made with root privileges.
