Redraw problems with Window Maker

I tried the latest version of Window Maker (0.92.0) from Debian's repositories. I'm encountering strange redraw issues: sometimes there are white artifacts on the screen that only disappear when I move some windows around, sometimes the application icons for minimized and running applications appear as a black sillouhette. I'm not running any special software, just running Window Maker. Is there some way to fix this?

That is odd but without more information it's hard to do any troubleshooting.
What architecture is the distro (x86 or x86_64)? What graphics card do you have? What graphics driver are you using?
