recording a mp4 music file to an audio cd
 

Hi,

I have downloaded a Youtube video, using the mp4 format, to my home folder. I wanted to record the file to a video dvd and Brasero cleverly changed the format to mpeg2 and burnt the disc successfully. I can now play this on my computer and on my TV via he linked dvd recorder.

I would now like to convert the music file, still on my Home folder, to an audio only format for my hi-fi cd player. Brasero doesn't seem to give me the options to do this, unless I'm doing something wrong.

I'd welcome some guidance here, please.

To get audio-only you will need to rip the audio from the CD or from the mp4. I think if my memory serves me I have ripped an audio once by using VLC media player. See if your distro has installed it already.

I assume you are using Ubuntu (since you did not post what your distro is). In ubuntu you can install VLC using Synaptic ( click System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager) then on the Search niche type 'vlc' click seach. If not found you may update your repositories % sudo apt-get update, then search again until you are able to install. You may also install the vlc mozilla plugin for your firefox if you like.

You can also extract audio from a video format using 'mplayer'. To shorten this post you may read the simple commands here. You can tune the output to a finer bitrate if you like.

Thank you malekmustaq. There's enough information there to keep me busy for a while. It will be enjoyable, too.

My wife has suggested that I couple our TV to our hi-fi setup. Dunno why I didn't think of this before as it would give us better sound in all cases. But that's only a bit of wiring, ain't it.... Nothing like playing with Linux.

This one is very easy. I don't know how the TV ports are implemented in your place but in my case I only bought an RCA link wire -about 1.5 Meter long- to connect Tv into the amplifier that releases the signal through a separate Equalizer/Mixer device before it goes to the speakers.

In the case of porting the Tv audio into the computer, either for saving the stream or for amplifying you only need to modify one end of the RCA link wire into a mini plug porting it into the Line-In socket usually located behind the computer. Vice versa I have modified also a link wire connecting from my computer Line-Out into my amplifier so that my DVD movies played in the computer will have a real time sound.

It's so simply You have to Burn the CD You can Use any utility for it there are number of utility available on the Internet.Just Search for it then use it which are Compatible With Your System.
