Using Kanotix (Debian). Kernel up to date.
I installed Realplayer10gold two months ago, but haven't used it. Now that I try to, it won't work. The problem, I think, is how I installed it. I used the realplayer10gold.bin file supplied by the company.
Whatever has happened, however, the program remains invisible to the system. It *occasionally* plays a stream or a .ra file, but is usually unfindable. I can't uninstall it with Kpackage, Synaptic, or anything else (because those programs don't know it's there), and am loath to go the rm or dpkg route until I'm sure what I'm doing.
The Helix community has put up an uninstall script (
https://player.helixcommunity.org/20...mozTocId185549) which doesn't seem to work on my system. When I try it, I get the following response:
root@KanotixBox:/home/usaideoir/Desktop# ./uninst.sh
bash: ./uninst.sh: Permission denied
root@KanotixBox:/home/usaideoir/Desktop#
In a related or unrelated problem, Kaffeine keeps trying to play all my multimedia, even realaudio streams and files, even though it can't!
Oh, sigh.
