PyPanel - Error on start

Howdy,

I'm trying to to get Pypanel-2.4 running on slackware-13.0. I'm getting the following error which is beyond my expertise. I'm very new to linux, please go easy on me ;-)

root@waikru:/tmp# pypanel &
[1] 10472
root@waikru:/tmp# Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/pypanel", line 892, in <module>
from ppmodule import ppinit, ppshade, ppicon, ppfont, ppfontsize, ppclear
ImportError: /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ppmodule.so: undefined symbol: imlib_free_image

Any help is appreciated. Thank you much.

Where have you installed it from? Did you check for any required dependencies?

Welcome to LQ!

PyPanel is broken and, AFAIK, is abandoned upstream. This isn't a build problem or anything you're doing wrong - you'd have to hack at the source code. Try tint2 instead (may be called tint) - if you want, you can get it from SlackBuilds.org, with or without the sbopkg frontend.

Thank you much. Yeah it seems tons of people are having problems with Pypanel. I was looking at tint2 earlier, i'll take it for a test run. Thanks again.
