Progress Bar Shows out of the Blue - Fedora 21
Hi - I am new to the forums. (Though I registered a long while back).
I installed fedora 21, and occasionally I see a progress bar that shows up out of nowhere, and don't know what to attribute it to. I didn't install or run any particular software that I am aware of that I can tell that that bar belongs to - It shows up on top of anything that is running at any given time.
I have a picture of it - It shows only for 2 seconds, but happens often enough: Progress Bar Photo
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what that bar that shows 11% in the photo is - and if I should like to get rid of it, how that would work.
I have a co-worker, who recently installed fedora 21, and he says that it shows up ocassionally, when he logs in, but not after that.

Hi Yooy,
It is a "monitor" icon.... I've looked at the "Display and Monitor" section of the KDE "System Settings" - there isn't much to change there - just some icons - one that changes the orientation of the display, another which allows you to select screen resolution, and a third which does something - I don't know what - if I click it (it is a star that is yellow and goes grey on clicking) - it goes grey but nothing seems to have changed - The Tooltip says "Toggle Primary Output" - which I don't understand - except that it may be a means to configure another display, if one gets attached.

Hi John VV,
Actually I use libreoffice....
The progress bar appears and shows 0 and then within half a minute it shows 11% (or the other way around - will check that) - but nothing else has ever shown up - I haven't checked to see if I am running an office application every time that happens though.
I will try to remember to check to see if an office application is open, when I see that bar.
It shows up whichever desktop I'm on at the moment.

Hi guys,
Found that the bar shows up on top of the screensaver, and it also doesn't require that any Libre Office application be open (checked all my desktops to make sure that Libre Office apps weren't open).
Does the bar cover the mouse pointer? Just to be sure it is not something from the monitor itself, although I don't think so from the looks of it. How do the monitor controls look, if you push some buttons on the monitor?

Hi guys,
I figured out what it was.... It *is* related to the monitor as others had suspected. But the controls are not in the system "settings" - instead it is a brightness indicator that is triggered by power management.
I tried fiddling with the brightness settings on an icon I got from the taskbar widget adder - and this immediately brought up that progress bar indicating the brightness the screen was set to. I couldn't get this setting from the system settings panel.
