problem with slim

Hi guys,

I installed Slackware 12.2 on my Dell Vostro 1310 laptop, and i was installed slim, after I was edit at file /etc/rc.d/rc.4 and /etc/inittab, and restart the machine the login manager not work, only lets access the root, but other users said that it is not possible, please do I?,

Excuse me guys,
Yesterday solved my problem since i copied two files from root (.Xautorithy and .xtrinc), in this moment work very well, but Do I know this only solution?,
in this moment i don't configure how halt and reboot my machine, how do I configure this?,
