When you ask a question, you need to tell us which distro you're using and which version of Gnome. Gnome isn't exactly the same in all, so the answer I've given may not be quite right for you. It seems that you have a bad copy of the software, or a version which doesn't match the versions of the libraries it's trying to use.

Instead, try running gconf-editor. You can get to the keyboard shortcuts by clicking on
apps - gnome setting daemon
apps - metacity

If all else fails, edit
~/.gconf/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/keybindings
~/.gconf/apps/metacity/global_keybindings
~/.gconf/apps/metacity/window_keybindings
