Printing to Epson NX330

I have given up on HP and especially their Deskjet 1000 j110 which is now leaking and is incompatible with Slackware 13.37 without updating HPLIP.
Hence, am considering an Epson NX330. I see from my searches that some are using apsfilter but apparently that has been dropped in 13.37.
Not on my system.
Other solutions are: make Slackware LSB 3.2 compatible and use gimp-print.
When I looked for rpm2targz to convert the LSB packages I found only rpm2cpio on my system. Is rpm2targz been dropped too or did I screw up something on the install last year? Where can I find the rpm2targz if I go that route?
I only find gimp-2.6.11-i486-3 in packages. Does that have the gimp-print within it?
Is Slackware intending to be LSB compatible?
