PcmanFM and fluxbox problems?
I'm having some troubles trying to set up pcmanfm, what i want is to run pcmanfm --desktop in fluxbox startup, but for some reason if i do this, fluxbox doesn't start at all.
it seems to stop fluxbox from loading. is there a way to solve this? what i want is to have the icons at my flux startup. |
Not familiar with pcmanfm but familiar with Fluxbox.
If pcmanfm is trying to put icons on the desktop, Fluxbox is not going to like it because Flux by default has no provision for icons (that's one reason I use it on all of my Linux computers). To put icons on the Fluxbox desktop, it's best to use a native Fluxbox utility, such as fbdesk. http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php?title=Fbdesk |

Does this happen with other light file managers? Thunar, Xfm, and rox-filer are all GUI file managers that I have used in the past with my openbox machine. You also have the option of various ncurses file managers that run in the terminal.
Not sure if this will help, but iDesk is a utility allowing users of minimal WMs to create desktop icons. http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php?title=Idesk |
