OpenSUSE 12.2

Hello, I'd first like to say it's good to be back here! It's been a while. Now for my question: I'm running openSUSE 12.2, and when I launch an application from the menu at the bottom left(I don't know what it's called in linux) and I can open an application and it will take a while. But if I add it to the "Application Launch Bar", it's launch time is cut in half so it seems. Anyway to keep it at that quick speed for good? Or is this just opensuse? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi and welcome back.
First of what desktop environment are you using, if there is a launcher at bottom left it could probably be KDE xfce or lxde?
If it is KDE you could try changing to a traditional menu (Right click on the suse icon and Switch to classic menu style).

It's lxde I think. When I sign in I use default.

Well, unfortunately I don't really know much about lxde, but here are a few suggestions...
First of, try creating a desktop icon as well and compare speeds, if the icon on the desktop and panel are both equally fast, and faster than the menu, it definitely proves that it is a menu issue. Also try loading them in different order, some applications run faster the second time because they preload.
Second, you could simply try removing the menu and adding a new one, though this isn't likely to do much.
Third, try creating a second user account and see if the error persists there.

Well... that's it for me, if none of the above works, I'm out of ideas.

Well well well genius! (Or my idiocy :/) The 2nd-4th time around things are much MUCH faster, as in the "Application Launch Bar". I thank you much!! (If it wasn't evident, I'm new to OpenSUSE, and very much new to linux as a whole haha)
