OpenOffice.org: file doesn't exist?!

I tried to save on OpenOffice.org file and it said "Error: <filename> doesn't exist"

Like heck it doesn't exist -- I'm looking right at it. Is this just a permissions thing? I found out my flash-drive was mounted read-only (another thing I'm dealing with...)

Any thoughts?

If it is read only, it shouldn't be saying "doesn't exist", but instead opening the file and stating it is in read only mode.

You might want to try "stat"-ing your mountpoint for the flash drive, because you may have it mounted as root only. In which case, try mounting with the "-o users" switch.

I found another solution: switch to Ubuntu. All the problems I had in MEPIS have disappeared -- I was using an old release that contained a lot of unstable stuff.

Just to clarify: the issue was when creating a new spreadsheet and trying to save it.
