OpenOffice and Samba (i/o error)

For two months I trying to search for a solutions for my problem with OpenOffice and Samba. The problem is that I can't create or edit files which are located on a samba share, because it comes up with a general input/output error.

I have setup an NFS server. And guess what..... I also get the general input/output error....

That was all on a OpenSUSE 10.3 client. Now I have installed Fedora Core 8. And guess again... Creating a new document or changing a document with OpenOffice on a samba share causes the general input/output error.

I also have tried the locking solution for soffice: (comment two lines)
Code:
# file locking now enabled by default
#SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING=1
#export SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING
I have bought an external network hard drive which uses samba to share directories. Again I get the general input/output error!

At this moment I really don't know what to do else.

In OpenSUSE 10.2 everything worked well. The moment I went to OpenSUSE 10.3 and now Fedora Core 8 have caused me a lot of time trying to solve this problem. On the internet I only can find the soffice solutions. I haven't found any other solutions. I hope someone has the FINAL solutions for me. Because there must be a lot more people having this problem.

If you do not need file locking try to disable them on samba server...

example:

[data]
locking = no
oplocks = no

cheers,

Thanks lukost for your reply.

On my network hard disk I can't change the samba configuration. But I have tried you suggestion on my fedora Core 6 server and openoffice still gives the general input/output error.

I really think the problem is OpenOffice and that it has nothing to do with (file)locking.

Hope someone has a suggestion what I can do with OpenOffice.
