If you do not see anything (or just an initial flicker
in the top left corner of your screen), try `--help',
and see the FAQ: `info adesklets'.

I am assuming that it is looking for the Vera font but cant find it. but i dont know how to install it. also i have tried to change it config file to a diffrent font that i know is installed on the system and i keep getting the same error.
anyone have any ideas on what is going on here?

Also, i am using debian lenny.

Solution

The problem is that your system does not have the font "Vera" installed.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 right now and it seems that they have removed that particular font from the newer versions.

I downloaded the font "ttf-bitstream-vera" from here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/all...-vera/download

After that, adesklets worked without any problems.

(Using other fonts by editing config.txt didn't work (e.g "ttf-droid"). adesklets worked only after I had installed the font "Vera".
Another user on a different forum also suggested using the Vera font from his Windows partition. That might also be an option.)
