One DVD won't work in Xine but does in VLC?

Hi, dunno if this is the right place to post this question.
I think it's qute an interesting one.
I'm using Suse 10.1 (because i came with the book i got on Suse linux etc)
I installed it and all the codecs and everything seems ok except for one DVD i'm trying to play that's part of a box set. All the other DVDs play ok in xine & Kaffiene but when I try to open this one I get the message " The source can't be read. Maybe you don't have enough rights for this or the source dosn't contain data (e.g. no disc in drive).(Error reading NAV packet)"

I though it might be the Disc but it's ok on all the other DVD players in the house and plays in VLC aswel.

I was just interested in why this was happening. I'm a newbie BTW. And the DVD is Cowboy BeBop if anyone's interested.

Let me guess: you have the original release box set (white background, different colors for each of the seven discs)...

If yes it's a problem with the way the disc was mastered. I own the same box set and so does my friend. I had the same problem. Thought it was a fluke so I rented the same disc from a local shop. Guess what?! Same problem. Honest to god man, it's just the disc.

If it's not the same one I'm talking about: it could be a problem with the xine-lib codec you have installed. The best codec to install for xine is lib-xine-1. You should be able to find it on the install disc if you have the DVD version with the extra packages. If not you can either a) add the installation sources from OpenSUSE.org (search for "adding installation sources") or b) downloading the extra disc directly from opensuse.org. You'll have to open YAST, go to software management and let it import the new source when it runs the search. Then switch over to search mode and punch in xine. You should see the new package there.

Gryyphyn, out.
