Hi I have just installed xubuntu on acer revo which I'm going to use as htpc. I can't get sound to work over hdmi (nvidia ION) but it works trought standart jag.So I have installed latest drivers and also editted /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf (adding options snd-hda-intel model=auto).
aplay -l shows
manox@htpc:~$ aplay -D plughw:1,3 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
I have also tried to change alsamixer settings but HDA NVidia doesnt allow to change volume from 00
I have had problems running xubuntu so I switched to Mythbuntu with the same issue
but here I can't see /etc/modprobe.d/sound.con file
from aplay -l I'm getting
ok I have created the file pasted the line exactly as it was written and still no sound also alsamixer wont allow me to chage volume on Nvida where 00 is default
manox@HTPC:~$ aplay -D plughw:1,3 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav
Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
