NS2 snapshot install error : tk8.4

Hi
I am trying to install NS2 (a snapshot version available for EDCA/HCCA simulation at http://yans.inria.fr/ns-2-80211/rele...07-14.2.tar.gz )
It requires following to be installed properly

tcl >= 8.4.11
tk >= 8.4.11
otcl >= 1.11
tclcl >= 1.17
gsl >= 1.4.

I already have tcl-8.4.13-1.1 & tk-8.4.13-1.1 installed, which I have checked with "rpm -q tcl tk"
but when I do "./configure" inside ns-2-snapshot-20050907-14.2 directory I get following message
Quote:
checking for libtcl8.4... -L/usr/lib -ltcl8.4
checking for init.tcl... /usr/lib/tcl8.4
checking for tclsh8.4.5... no
checking for tclsh8.4... /usr/bin/tclsh8.4
checking for tk.h... no
checking for libtk8.4... -L/usr/lib -ltk8.4
checking for tk.tcl... /usr/share/tk8.4
configure: error: Installation of tk seems incomplete or can't be found automatically.
Please correct the problem by telling configure where tk is
using the argument --with-tk=/path/to/package
(perhaps after installing it),
or the package is not required, disable it with --with-tk=no
using the following command also gives the same message
Quote:
./configure --with-tcl=/usr/share/tk8.4/
How do I correct the problem ie how to tell configure where tk is ?

I have been able to progress so that ./configure does not give any error however now make is giving following error
Code:
./sctp/sctp.h:630: error: extra qualification ‘SctpAgent::’ on member ‘DumpSendBuffer’
make: *** [trace/trace.o] Error 1
Can anybody suggest any solution for this?

For those who are also struck in ns2 install loop
Code:
I have been able to install dependencies as follows

Download following packages from http://yans.inria.fr/ns-2-80211/

ns-2-snapshot-20050907-14.2.tar.gz
tcl8.4.11-src.tar.gz
tk8.4.11-src.tar.gz
otcl-1.11.tar.gz
tclcl-1.17.tar.gz
gsl-1.8.tar.gz

Create a directory eg. ns2install and untar all the tar.gz files in that directory.

For installing tcl8.4

>cd tcl8.4.11/unix
>cp -v configure{,.orig} && sed "s/relid'/relid/" configure.orig > configure
>./configure
>make
>make install

For installing tk8.4.11 & otcl-1.11

Repeat the above steps replacing tcl8.4.11 with tk8.4.11 or otcl-1.11

for installing tclcl-1.17 & gsl-1.8

>./configure
>make
>make install

Thumbs up Solved : make error

The extra qualification error was resolved by removing "SctpAgent::" form line no. 630 in /sctp/sctp.h

hi !
i am trying to install NS2 version allinone-2.30 on solaris 10. As mentioned in its README and doc that all we have to do is to run ./install n it will do it all. when i tried ./install it gave me error

./install: make: not found
tcl8.4.13 make failed! Exiting ...

well i dont know wats the problem as they have mention in there doc that all u have to do is to run command ./install.

Anyways i added package tcl-8.5a4-sol10-sparc-local n its path is /usr/local/lib/8.4
then i tried again n result was same.

Then tried next command i.e
./install --with-tcl=/usr/local/lib/tcl8/8.4/
same result and then i cd into /ns-2.30
bash-3.00# pwd
/software/nss/ns-allinone-2.30/ns-2.30

I used command ./configure and the result was

configure: error: Installation of tclcl seems incomplete or can't be found automatically.
Please correct the problem by telling configure where tclcl is
using the argument --with-tclcl=/path/to/package
(perhaps after installing it),
or the package is not required, disable it with --with-tclcl=no.

I tried these
./configure --with-tclcl=/usr/local/lib/tcl8/
./configure --with-tclcl=/usr/local/lib/tcl8/8.4

Result

configure: error: tclcl is required but could not be completely found.
Please correct the problem by telling configure where tclcl is
using the argument --with-tclcl=/path/to/package,
or the package is not required, disable it with --with-tclcl=no.

Now i have download tcl8.4.11-src.tar.gz
tk8.4.11-src.tar.gz
otcl-1.11.tar.gz
tclcl-1.17.tar.gz
gsl-1.8.tar.gz
from site http://yans.inria.fr/ns-2-80211/
and try to install tk8.4...
n got error

Now i have solved some problem n installed tcl n tk but otcl is giving me problem .
Anyways can u tell me why allinone is not installing all packages ?

Take care.

Though it is long time since I used NS2,

The steps to install tclcl are as I have posted earlier, you can try downloading tclcl-1.17.tar.gz again by clicking on this link & running the commands again

http://sourceforge.net/project/downl...e_mirror=jaist

Else you can install tclcl using package manager and then install NS2 using

>./configure --with-tclcl=/path/to/tclcl

The following thread may also help

hi sn68, i didn't find other thread on web discussing the same snapshot installation.

Thanks for the tclcl link, i think it was the full version coz mine was missing makein file i have installed it.

then i was trying to run make for ns-2-snapshot-20050907-14.2, after solving the extra qualification error in two files, i get this error

dsr/dsragent.cc: In member function ‘void DSRAgent::handleFlowForwarding(SRPacket&, int)’:
dsr/dsragent.cc:828: error: ‘XmitFlowFailureCallback’ was not declared in this scope
dsr/dsragent.cc: In member function ‘void DSRAgent::sendOutPacketWithRoute(SRPacket&, bool, Time)’:
dsr/dsragent.cc:1385: error: ‘XmitFailureCallback’ was not declared in this scope
dsr/dsragent.cc:1386: error: ‘XmitFlowFailureCallback’ was not declared in this scope
dsr/dsragent.cc:1403: error: ‘XmitFailureCallback’ was not declared in this scope

it seems somthing is missing in the snapshot, but is there anyway to integrate (install) it into any allinone package

thanks again but what should i do now?

hi sn68, sorry to distrub you alot with my questions.

but i have managed to make install the snapshot & slove the above prblem, but i wonder what environmental variables i should set for it (if you still remember) because at end of make install there was no notes for that just like allinone installation.

& should i always copy my tcl & sources to bin to run them?
i want to work in HCCA

thank you & i appreciate your help

i tried to set environmental variables for snapshot similar to allinone, as fellow

Quote:
export PATH=${PATH}:/root/ns2install/11e/bin:/root/ns2install/tcl8.4.11/unix:root/ns2install/tk8.4.11/unix
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:/root/ns2install/otcl-1.11:/root/ns2install/11e/lib:root/ns2install/tk8.4.11/library
export TCL_LIBRARY=${TCL_LIBRARY}:/root/ns2install/tcl8.4.11/library
but when i try to work with it it error as below

Quote:
[root@localhost 11e]# ./validate
bash: ./validate: Permission denied
[root@localhost 11e]# ./test-all
bash: ./test-all: Permission denied
[root@localhost 11e]# cd bin
[root@localhost bin]# ./ns wpan_demo1.tcl
bash: ./ns: No such file or directory
what im doing wrong here?

ps i named the snapshot folder "11e"

Post # 12 by @ sheshta is about the very different ns-2.29.
( And @sheshta has no new posts at LQ since May - 2009.)

NS-2.28 is older, and can most easily be built by using later
versions of : tcl, tk, otcl, tclcl from ns-allinone-2.34.

Posts # 10, # 11 here
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...failed-732164/

Quote:
/usr/bin/install: cannot stat `ns': No such file or directory
Means : No binary 'ns' is present, the compilation of ns-2.28 failed.

P.S. : I made a test install of ns-allinone-2.28 on Fedora 10,
04 - September - 2010 : No errors.
...

PPS. : There is no reason to quote an entire post.
Makes the thread difficult to read.
Please delete the most.
